NBCRG urges you to vote for Ted Wysocki for Mayor.

3 Will provide the required leadership to resolve city problems as they arise.

NBCRG urges you to vote for Susan Manley and Peggy LaSalle for School Board

It is our opinion that Susan Manley and Peggy LaSalle are the best candidates for New Berlin School Board.

Susan Manley,s previous school board experience, and Peggy LaSalle's background in educational issues make them well qualified to serve on the school board.

NBCRG is confident that Susan Manley and Peggy LaSalle:

1 Will maintain district facilities without the need for expensive tax increase referendums

2 Will be fiscally conservative with our tax dollars by promoting efficiency and productivity in our district.

3 Will support a broad curriculum that will enable students to graduate prepared for college, technical school and the world of work.

4 Their children attend New Berlin Public Schools and they will maintain high achievement standards for all students.

Today is Primary Election Day in Wisconsin

By Ralph Heun
Tuesday, Feb 17 2009, 05:40 AM

A challege to our citizens!

The media forecasts that 10% of the registered voters will actually vote.

We know that the citizens of New Berlin will beat that figure and may even double it.

It is important that when you vote, that you explore the issues and be an informed voter.

Do not be misled and believe everything you read in internet blogs and blog comments.

We are in dangerous economic waters. 8% unemployment still means that 92% are still working. During the depths of the Great Depression 75% were still working. Economic cycles are always happening.

Be optimistic and vote wisely

Another Special New Berlin Common Council Meeting, Tuesday February 3, at 7:00pm

By Ralph Heun
Monday, Feb 2 2009, 04:37 PM

There will be still another special meeting of the New Berlin Common Council on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at 7:00pm in the Council Chambers.

This is in response to Alderman Joe Poshepny reconsidering his approval of Ordinance 2404, waiving the 2nd and 3rd reading of the ordinance which is required to replace ordinance 2063.

Alderman Poshepny had changed his vote regarding Ordinance 2404, from "abstain" to "approve" after the vote was taken on January 27. His vote to "approve" gave him the right to ask for a reconsideration of ordinance 2404 and he has asked for that reconsideration.

Ordinance 2404 is necessary to bring New Berlin into compliance with Wisconsin State Law, in regard to setting the salary of the next mayor who will be elected On April 7, 2009

New Berlin 2009 Property Tax down from 2008

By Ralph Heun
Saturday, Dec 13 2008, 10:25 PM

Now that you have received your 2009 New Berlin property tax bills...

How about that, it is lower than last years'.

That's right! Lower school property taxes have more than offset the increases in the City, County, State of Wisconsin and Waukesha County Technical College portions of your tax bill.

We actually received property tax relief !

It is very important to maintain this tradition of tight budgetary controls, by continuing to elect school board members that recognize that "Throwing Money" at a problem, or passing a tax increase referendum, is not necessary to provide a good education for all.

We encourage possible candidates to run for office by picking up an election package at the New Berlin School district office at Eisenhower High School on Sunny Slope Road. The deadline to return the form is 5:00pm  January 6, 2009

At this time 5 people have indicated an interest in the mayoral contest.

By Ralph Heun
Wednesday, Apr 2 2008, 06:45 AM

New Berlin Citizens for Responsible Government congratulates all the winners of the various election races. Although all the candidates we endorsed did not win we feel that the campaigns they conducted were issue oriented.

You will note that NBCRG flyers were all positve on what the issues were.

JJ Blonien brought attention to many issues. We hope  that he will be active in future political races.

Art  Marquardt and Dave Macey we feel will continue the excellant traditions of New Berlin Schools.

Welcome back to the Common Council,  Ken Harenda and Wysocki. Thanks to Tom Augustine for a job well done.

Peter Gundrum and Pauline Jeske, please continue to work for all the citizens of New Berlin and Waukesha County.

Welcome and good luck to William Zaborowski, District 21 on the County Board.

Karl Nilson, thank you for your past service.

It is time to "Bury the Hatchet" and and come together to settle issues such as Calhoun Road, Coffee Road, 124th street, Sidewalks, Fire Department annd a host of other items.

The next election is a long way off and much work needs to be done!

Ralph Heun , president

PS,  I just realized tonight after re-reading the blog, that I neglected to  welcome Bill Moore back as Alderman of District 6. This was not done intentionally and I apologise for the omission.

NEW BERLIN CITIZENS

FOR RESPONSIBLE GOVERNMENT

Endorses

JJ Blonien

for

6th District Alderman

Based on our interview with JJ Blonien, it is our opinion that he is the best candidate to represent 6th District residents. JJ will bring the fresh, positive change in leadership needed at City Hall.

NBCRG has confidence in Blonien’s commitment to:

Control spending and taxes for city residents.

Support residents by opposing sidewalk construction.

Economic development for the benefit of the citizens, not the developers.

NBCRG April 1, Ballot recommendations!

By Ralph Heun
Saturday, Mar 29 2008, 11:46 AM

There is a Wisconsin State Referendum Question on the Ballot which is as follows:

QUESTION 1: "Partial Veto, Shall Section 10 (1)(c) of article V of the constitution be amended to prohibit the governor, in exercising his or her partial veto authority, from creating a new sentence by combining parts of two or more sentences of the enrolled bill?"

NBCRG recommends a YES vote for the following reasons;

Democratic and Republican governors in the past have frequently changed the meanings of the stated purpose of the passed legislation  by  combining  words, sentences phrases, dollar ammounts  and paragraphs to completely change the wishes of the legislature.

This practice has let to what various parties have called the "Frankenstein Veto Power"

It has changed State budgets, taxes, programs, failities and most everything else .

 Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice

NBCRG voted at our last meeting to endorse Mike Gableman  for the posion for the following reasons:

The present justice was not elected being, as he was appointed by Governor Doyle. Louis Butler has been the swing vote since his appointment and the result have made Wisconsin the only state where industries can be sued without proof that their product, caused particular problem. This is true even if those companies have never made an offending product. The net result is that companies now in Wisconsin have another reason to expand their operations elsewhere, or to completely move out of the state.

The present make up of the Wisconsin Supreme Court has also moved into areas that could affect schools, virtual schools marriage amendment, school choice, police methods and many others,

NBCRG also reaffims support for the  local races previously  stated:

Alderman District 2,    Ted Wysocki

               District 4,    Ken Harenda

               District 6,    JJ Blonien

School Board

               Art Marquardt

               Dave Maxey

County Supervisors

               District 20, Pauline Jeske

               District 21, Karl Nilson

               District 22, Pete Gundrum

Be sure to vote April 1, 2008  from 7:00am to 8:00pm

Thank you

By Ralph Heun
Tuesday, Mar 18 2008, 05:15 PM

The New Berlin Citizens for Responsible Government (NBCRG) has invited all candidates for public office to our meetings for many years, to make a presentation on what the candidates vision is for the  various offices.

This year we again asked all candidates to make their views known to our members. They spoke, we listened and asked questions, and then we decided if we wanted to make any endorsements.   We did consider all statements on their positions as an indication of  what could be expected in the future.
