We Care New Berlin launches attack on conservative Alderman

By Ralph Heun
Wednesday, Nov 28 2007, 05:32 PM

We Care New Berlin distributed a flyer the week-end of the 24th, in District 2, stating they were very disappointed with the performance of their 2nd District Alderman Tom Augustine. The group had negative concerns about closing Wilbur Drive.  Although they blamed Augustine, he has worked to come to a mutual agreement for all the residents of the community.
The group also blamed him for the failure of the City Center.  The group also blamed him for a lawsuit.

Alderman Augustine is only (1) vote of (7). They want to replace him for the sake of property tax bills.  At the November 27th Budget meeting, I thought Augustine was very conservative.  The BIG spenders trying to increase taxes were Aldermen Bill Moore, District 6 and Joe Poshepny, District 5.

Thank you,

Vern Bentley, Guest Writer

Hi Vern -

As long as you keep holding those ideas of what is going on in the City Council - I know that I am making the right decisions.

Your Good Friend,

JOE

So this new PAC (Political Action Committee) of liberals can't even live up to their own fake hype for just one flier?  Aren't they the ones touting themselves as a "positive" group formed to bring the city togther?  What a joke!

The Moore/Richter/Gallagher/Wilkins "We Don't Care About New Berlin" PAC is a group of far-left activists formed to make-up lies about and use half-truths and innuendo to smear the names of fiscally conservative elected officials and community members who dare oppose their extremist political agenda.

In short, they are group of lefty character assassins who will stop at nothing to try to intimidate those representating the conservative values of our conservative city.

As I suspected when this group of far-left bullies formed their PAC a short time ago, this next spring election cycle is shaping up to be the nastiest ever.  Their unwarranted attack flier on Alderman Augustine proves it.

Conservatives, be vigiant.  There is a storm coming and we must be ready.

Alderman Poshepny,

It's clear by your comments and your close political ties with the "We Don't Care About New Berlin" PAC's president McInerny that you support the attack on Alderman Augustine.  For all we know, you and Alderman Moore authorized it.

I'm so glad that you are proud of the way you are voting on the council and that you intend to keep voting that way.  That's the best way to keep showing your constituents how out of touch with them you are.

I went to their (we care's) web page and although I saw some negative

innuendos that 1 vote you mentioned did cost me, as a taxpayer, a lot

money!  I don't know why you think that liberal.  Their view seems

very conservative to me.

As for City Center...I personally don't see it as a failure...it's too new for that judgement.  If it's currently bringing in $300,000+ in

tax revenue (according to their web page) and will be bringing in a

whole lot more in the future I don't understand why anyone would call

that failure.

Don't know anything about Wilbur Drive and frankly don't care being that I don't live on the street.

In the flyer that Vern Bentley referrers, to the Last line on the flyer stated: For the sake of our Tax Bills…

If you are really worried about your Tax Bill, watch out for Bill Moore And Joe Poshepny.

In real life at the Common Council meeting of November 27, The ONLY alderman who attempted to raise taxes was Bill Moore, who made at least 4, and possibly more, motions to put $300,000 more into the budget.

All of Bill Moore’s motions were seconded by Joe Poshepny, whose campaign Manager is We Carenb? President, Ray Mcinerny.

It is obvious We Carenb and its members want to spend more of your money!

Tom Augustine has worked to come to an agreement to control traffic on Wilbur Drive. This recognizes that all citizens have the right to drive on any public street, while addressing the concerns of residents on Wilbur Drive. The changes are being done right now.

Tom was only one of several aldermen who have questions about the Civic Center. Especially after the previous Common Council allowed a developer to renege on building Wall Street (adjacent to Walmart) into the Civic center,

We Carenb? blamed Tom for the Greek Church Lawsuit. It is interesting to note that former alderman Paul Gallagher, who is a member of We Carenb? Was initially against the Greek Church and only switched to supporting the Church after Gallagher had a dispute with former Mayor Ted Wysocki.

Another interesting tidbit is that the lawyer who filed the lawsuit against the City of New Berlin for the Greek Church, was Attorney T. Michael Shober who was Mayor Chiavatero’s Campaign manager when Chiavatero won the Mayoral race in 2005. Smells like a conflict of interest.

Other members of We Carenb? are Barbara Shober, T. Michael Shober’s wife. Attorney Dennis Sage works with T. Michael Shober

It is unfair to blame one alderman for the actions of the entire Common Council.

We Carenb? is using this tactic to destroy the reputation of Tom Augustine in an attempt to discourage him from seeking re-election.

I am very disappointed in all the New Berlin government.  I moved to this city because I thought it was quiet and the taxes where affordable.

Little did I know about how screwed up and divided this city is.  The Mayor is more worried about his developer friends than the good of the city.

I am very dissappointed how the Mayor and Common Council rail roaded us on our road.  Old Joe Poshepny got what he wanted, his street open so all the retirees in his retirement community at the end of my street can speed past my house while they peer over the top of the steering wheel.

My house is my biggest investment.  Now I have nice piles of asphalt in front of my house, that supposedly slow traffic.  The New Berlin Eisnehower Students that cut through my neighborhood to get to Mooreland love to see how fast they can go over them.  Is this safe for kids and people to walk down their own street?  NO is isn't!  In the original motion it was determined that 8 speed tables would be put in and all the stop signs would be left.  Where are our stops signs?  They magically disappeared yeaterday while I was working to pay for my house. And why are their only 7 speed tables?

And why would Joe care about raising taxes?  I am sure he doesn't pay property taxes in his retirement community.  I was home sick one day and saw the city workers installing these speed tables.  What a joke!  Most of them stood around doing nothing.  I think the city should be looking into it's staffing.  Wasted tax dollars?

As sad as it is I am considering moving to another city.  I have no faith in the city government.  And I am not the only one on my street that feels this way.

The Nice Crowd

I hope the people who are yelling about Joe Poshepny are the ones who actually voted in the last election. Nothing against Joe personally, but if you take a look at who actually voted for him it was everyone who lived where he is living.  I highly doubt that this is a good representation of the district that he represents.

I am sure that Joe is a good man and his trying his best.  However, I think this is another case where citizens need to be involved and sure that their aldermen and alderwomen are representing their needs.

When you only have someone who is concerned with one demographic it will affect the way you are represented. Let's be honest the 25 to 55 demographic is probably one of the largest in the city.  However it is also probably one of the more apathetic as well.  If feel like the city government is sticking it to you, well then be heard.  Also, take the time to vote.  When you look at the voting numbers in our city it is usually pretty weak...

That's okay, you won't have to worry about having Paramedic service(we have EMTs), but will you consider staying in New Berlin if I told you the Library is open 7 days not 6? The mind can't be wasted. You Council is concerned. Your School board is concerned.  The youth is important!

Bev.

Yes, Wilbur Drive is just a bunch of whiny people.  If the problem isn't at your front door why should one worry?

Sorry to change the subject. But I cant keep my mouth shut! I would have put this on Richter's blog but she is being a classic liberal! Yes, she is a hypocrite. Accusing others of censoring, then telling everyone she wont be posting comments anymore. Real good one Linda. Is it laziness? spite? Or maybe you cant take it when people acknowlege you are wrong?

By the way your blog doesnt get many hits. They are all from the same 30 people who want to know “what SHE has to blab about NOW”. Really, my reason for reading your blogs is to see you get shot down by Keith Matt or Ralph. Stop kidding yourself. Nobody cares about your input or your blind remarks. And rtop putting the word hits in quotation. It is so annoying!

Wow. My apologies to Mr. Heun for changing the subject.

Anybody can email me, tell me what you think.

Maybe you should tell Richter (since she is your friend) to actually post comments. Instead of yapping your gap.

Had to Comment.

Why not just use your name and show the strength of your convictions. Since I do not spend all my time at the computer, you just have to be patient and it will come up in due time.

Staying on the subject does help.

The Journal-Sentinel suggests that we ignore material that is way out.

You might try to submit to Linda Richter and see if she puts it on. But don't hold your breath!

Ralph....I don't think I'm the one posting "way out" material. The Now people encourage people not to use their real names. When other material is posted with dates and times well after mine I think I can make the leap and determine you are not posting all the comments.

Linda Richter indicated in her blog that comments to her blog are being monitored by the NOW editors and not her. If your comments are not being posted perhaps they are "way out there ". It just would be nice if you didn't make the claim that you post everything when in reality you no longer are. I know you're doing your best to help your son and your cause but that's not very honest.

When I read the title of this blog, I had to check my calendar because I thought it was April 1st!

Augustine a Conservative? That is funny. Did we all forget that he ran for State Legislator as a Liberal Democrat? Or that he was the chairman of the Waukesha Cty Democratic Party? Or that he publicly endorsed none other than Russ Feingold? I have no problem with anyone being a liberal, Conservative or anything else, I respect all of their opinions. But it is funny to see grumpy old Vern calling the leader of the Democratic party a conservative!

Vern, don't you realize you just slapped Tom in the face by calling him Conservative? Your eagerness to bash your perceived opponents has unwillingly caused you to insult your ally. How funny is that?

Clearly NBCRG is also clueless about officials and candidates that they support. They sure picked a winner in the last election! Zap!

As the following log shows there have been only 13 comments sent to me. which is the same as are posted above!!!

So Richter says she has her comments monitored by j-s and has no control, obviously those comments that"30" people send are pretty bad stuff!!!

Why not send her a nice one so she has something to put on her site.

If you believe what she says I have a Big Bridge connecting the Michigan Peninsulas is for sale at $50,000 (USD.

How about that 1062 hits on NBCRG and 13 comments! 13hits an hour even when I am sleeping.

Do you remember that basketball that Tom Hanks had found in "Castaway" and he named "Wilson"?

I think in the future so that we are on a one name basis, I will just call you ?...... B?

Editors note

Conservative is spelled with a small c and is used as an adjective.

everyone must remember that on a local level most people are conservative when it comes to spending their own money. They become liberal when spending tax money

Ralph I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say in your post about 13 comments ? It doesn't seem to tie out with the content of the above comments. I know I have made comments on multiple occasions that never appear on your blog, mainly in response to attacks from your son and Mr. Thomas. That's all I know.

Count the number of comments above, 13, the same as show in the log!!

Why not call Mark Maley 262 446 6630 and talk to him about all your concerns. He may tell you that some of the stuff you sent were borderline and he told me that he personally may not have posted them.

I recall only 1 comment of yours that I did not post and that was way off the subject.

So to give everyone a chance to be heard, please  try to make positive statements to improve things instead of your present confrontational stance.

In the future please don't try to flood the site and complain if something does not appear. I will not put the blame that it is Mark Maley's job to post anything, as I will follow good journalistic practices.

Thank You

Had to comment,

Accusing me of having comments that are “way out there” is just stupid. The only reason you have an alias is because you want to bad mouth others and not be held responsible. The only things you comment (complain) about are accusing Ralph of censoring and how horrible the school board is. Nothing you say has to do with the conversation at hand. Stop being Richter's pawn! Save yourself!

Poshepny,

Wait. The last time I checked officials are supposed to do what is best for the people not what is best for you. I find your “ideas” corrupt and in your best interest, not in the citizens.

Steve Schaefer,

Tom Augustine has been voting in a relatively fiscally conservative manner as a council member.  I don't care what his party affiliation is or the party affiliation of any other local office holder.  I only care about how he votes in his current elected position.  I do not always agree with how he votes, e.g. I did not agree with his vote on the budget last Tuesday, but he did vote to cancel an unnecessary and punitive tax increase referendum on Tuesday.  So, on balance, I think he has done a good job as a council member, Democrat or not.

Had To Comment should start his own blog.  Then he could speak all he wants with his nonsense.  Every topic he gets involved in is tarnished.

And don't tell me not to comment toward you HTC ... not until you get your own blog.

Free speech, baby.

What an odd thing to say. Tom Augustine is a staunch Democrat that votes conservative?

A Republican that votes Liberal, is a Rino. Is Tom a Dino then? Wait until the party hears about this!

This all goes to show that liberals actually believe and stand by thier lies. Freedom of speech only pertains to them and no one else. Thats why they are the way they are.
