Misinformation about NBCRG and Deer Creek Inn and Conference Center

I find that 3rd District Alderman Paul Gallagher's comments about New Berlin Citizens for Responsible Government quite amusing for inaccuracy and insulting for its content.

NBCRG is our legal name of our citizens Watchdog group, not CRG. We are Conservatives, Libertarians, Greens and even a few Liberals. However we are united when it comes to working for the interests of the citizens of New Berlin. We vote on issues and candidates with the majority view prevailing. It is not one person making the decisions as to what the issues are, or what candidate we should support. As individuals we can support or vote for whomever we please and we can speak our own minds.

We believe that New Berlin residents should be informed about issues that affect them and should hold the government accountable if they are not notified.

When you read our letters and comments, you will find we inform New Berlin citizens of events and invite interested parties to attend and make their own comments as they may wish. We do not tell them what to say.

For example: Prior to the Planning Commission meeting on Monday, there were no details about the final version of the Deer Creek Inn and Conference Center. It was known that the structure was going to be 7 stories high or about 75 feet, not the 110 feet as it turned out. We asked for a public hearing because of the drastic changes made since it was approved in 1999.

Mayor Chiovatero told the Waukesha Freeman on Tuesday that the Department of Public Works must negotiate a Contractor agreement with the developer and that contract must be ratified by the Common Council. We want the DPW to include a bonding arrangement that will protect residents in District 1 and 3 if they have well or other problems caused by this development.

We hope that Alderman Gallagher, who voted against a Public Hearing on Calhoun Road, will tell his constituents about the Calhoun Road hearing and answer questions about how the Deer Creek Hotel and Convention Center may affect their neighborhood.
