Conservatively Speaking

State Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) represents parts of four counties: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Walworth. Her Senate District 28 includes New Berlin, Franklin, Greendale, Hales Corners, Muskego, Waterford, Big Bend, the town of Vernon and parts of Greenfield, East Troy, and Mukwonago. Senator Lazich has been in the Legislature for more than a decade. She considers herself a tireless crusader for lower taxes, reduced spending and smaller government.

We need more Boy Scouts

One of the most rewarding and gratifying duties I have as a state Senator is presenting special state plaques of recognition to young men achieving the honor of Eagle Scout.

I thoroughly enjoy the Eagle Scout ceremonies I attend. They are a wonderful testament to the caliber of fine young people.

The Boy Scouts of America is in need of support. That is why I was so pleased to see
Rebecca Hagelin, the author of the new best seller, 30 Ways in 30 Days to Save Your Family, write a column praising this terrific organization. Hagelin writes, in part:

It's time someone stand up for the young men of this country. What the nation really needs are more Boy Scouts. And I mean that literally. Scouting doesn't just stop with words and pledges, it shows boys how to become men marked by these invaluable traits.”

I agree wholeheartedly with all Hagelin has to say.

Mary

Thank you for your support for the Boy Scouts of America.

There will be a Eagle Scout Court of Honor on May 17 for eight young men from Troop 93. They are:

Andrew E. Bottom

Alexander M. DiFonzo

David S. Grebe

John F. Grosch

Christopher J. Hahn

David J Kratz

Jacob S. Rivard

Christopher J. Scheele

These boys have earned at least 21 merit badges, including 12 required badges which include Camping, 3 Citizenship in Community, Nation, and World, Communication, Family life, First Aid, Environmental Science, Personal Fitness, Personal Management and a choice of 1 from the group Cycling, Hiking, Swimming and 1 from the Lifesaving or Emergency Service.

They also must be active in Troop Leadership, School, Church and the Community.

Troop 93, sponsored by the Holy Name Society of Holy Apostles Catholic Church in New Berlin has had an excellent scouting program for many years. Many boys have earned the Eagle Badge.

Troop 93 will attend Camp Bird in Crivitz, Wisconsin this August 9-16 and will conduct its own program utilizing parents and volunteer Scouters.

There are many fine troops in the area and we encourage boys to stop at any meeting place and see what Scouting is about
